Mary's New Year

Mary was having the most awful luck today. she ran about this way and that getting the streamers set up and the balloons filled for the big party. she ordered a cake, but when they delivered it the cake said Happy Knew Year. simply unacceptable. when Kirby showed up early to help he sneezed and blew away all the streamers and presents for the gift exchange. Kirby took Mary by the hand and said "lets go out and have ourselves a fun night my treat." Mary smiled and went with him. they went to the bowling alley first where she had the worst luck aiming. kirby took her hand again and said "lets get out of here and go see a movie instead." she agreed and they went and saw Spinarakman a movie about a boy getting bit by a radioactive spinarak and wearing spandex. during the movie the charizard at the snackbar burnt the popcorn and a clumsy Haunter tried to grab a soda and it went through his hands on top of Mary. "This is the worst night ever" she said. kirby looking helpless seems to come up with something. he takes her hand for the third time and says "i know the perfect place." tired and a mess she takes her hand away and says "no im going home this was the worst day ever." kirby sees how sad she looks walking away and looks at a phone. an idea pops into his head and he hurries over. "time to make a few calls" he says enthusiastically. Meanwhile Mary is walking down the street wondering *today was supposed to be perfect. we were supposed to have a party together and it all got ruined.* Kirby runs up to her from behind and says "come on or were gonna miss it." he grabs her hand and takes off with her flailing behind him. she yells "whats going on!?" "No Time To Explain!" they head down five blocks and the he stops. "put this on." he hands her a blindfold. "its a surprise, trust me." at a loss she decides to put it on and let him lead her. she steps off the sidewalk and they start walking through grass. she smells food and hears talking. they stop and kirby says "were here" and removes the blindfold. Mary is astounded to see all her friends here. Drifloon, Butterfree, that strange Haunter who spilled soda on her, Kirby's friends, and that big charizard who burned her popcorn. they were in the park lit by lanterns strung hanging across the trees. there are tables and wooden benches set up and the charizard cooking BBQ. a Gardevoir is tying balloons and slapping a pesky Geodude trying to snatch a piece of cake. a Quilava, Pikachu, and Minchino are handing out lanterns. The Haunter chases a couple kids across the clearing playing tag. He flies through a tree and the Oshawott chasing him runs into it. Kirby looks at Mary and says "happy new year. i hope this makes your day better." he hands her a lantern and says "care to do the honors?" she nods with a huge smile and lights it with Charizards tail then releases it. it begins to fly away then a wind blows and it flies into the tree. She sweat drops for a moment then begins laughing hysterically. This really was the best day ever.
